After a fun filled day of exploring some of the unique parts of the Nebraska University campus, we got the chance to feel a little closer to home, by speaking with past FFA state president and national officer Brady Revels. We enjoyed hearing about Mr. Brady's life in and out of the blue and gold jacket, and shared many good laugh's. Through his time in FFA as a leader he formed valuable connection's and friendships all across the country, and even some out of the country. The student's enjoyed hearing about his stories in Japan on a trip as a national officer. After, his year of service he earned his degree at the University of Florida in Agricultural Education. Mr. Brady shared how teaching classes at UF translated very well when working in sales for communicating and explaining sales pitches.
Straight out of college Mr. Brady started working for Elanco as a sales representative and he worked with them for 7 years. As someone who is interested in veterinary field this conversation peeked my interest. He explained to us some of the usage of human drugs that where better suited for animals, and used in veterinary medicine. After Elanco, Mr. Brady worked with Cargill, which is a company that uses a separated by product of fructose corn syrup that is high in fiber and nutritious for dairy cattle. Brady maintains connections with his local dairy farmers to help make sure their herds are fed and healthy. He said one of his favorite things to do for his company is plan customer appreciation events "it's like planning a wedding with someone else's card".
Brady's life skills and knowledge learned in FFA and UF set him up for success, teaching him the value of meaningful connections and how to advocate for himself and others. Brady Revels' story was inspiring and engaging. We are so thankful for his time.
To end our day, a suggestion from Mr. Brady, we headed off to the hay market that had a plethora of restaurants for our group to choose from. Well fed and ready for another day of tours.
