Day 5: An unplanned stop by Emma

At Bell Fourche High School, the FFA officers told us about a place we should visit while in town. We had some time and took a pit stop at the Geographic Center of the Nation Monument which is a point that marks the geographic center of the 48 states. There is a flag from every state there and a memorial for the Vietnam War as well as the Tri-State Museum and Visitor Center

According to the website: "Tucked into the rolling plains of western South Dakota lies Belle Fourche—a small town with a grand claim to fame: it proudly marks the Geographic Center of the United States. While that precise point lies about 20 miles north on private pasture, Belle Fourche offers a compelling, visitor-friendly tribute spotlighting American geography, history, and heart."

They have old western saddles, phones, and a lot more in their museum that’s connected to the park. It shows all types of western saddles and old artifacts. We had a fun time at the center of America seeing the history of the area.
